1910 Lajoie Wright & Ditson Baseball Bat Double Knob - Sporting Goods - By Owner

⭕ VERY Rare Nap Lajoie double knob baseball bat by Wright & Ditson c.1910.Very attractive 33 long bat (approx.38 ounces) with Wright & Ditson Major League LAJOIE stampings at the centerbrand area.On the end of the knob it is marked a second time in a circle,Wright & Ditson. The handle has Lajoies unique double knob configuration. In EXCELLENT CONDITION!!
The Lajoie bat was used in both practice and play, and was an experiment in increasing the batters accuracy. The batter was meant to curl a finger under the extra knob.It was thought this would improve fine control, allowing the batter to hitem where they aint.Popularized by Hall of Famer Napoleon Lajoie.
When we researched Wright & Ditson bats,we found exact length and weight bats consistently used in the Major leagues at the time.In doing evaluation on a Lajoie bat of the same length and weight,Mears made an interesting comment,This bat dates to the early period of the growth of professional baseball team endorsed products. With the infancy of the practice, there was not a clear line drawn between professional and retail model offerings. In many cases they were one in the same.Estimated shipping weight,(packaged) is 4.5 lb in a 36 x 5 x 5 box.
