Geigenbaumeister (Master of Violin-making) Reinhold Schnabl is presently Stringed Instrument Production Master at he Roderich Paesold factory, Bubenreuth, West Germany, where he has been employed since 1973. Here Mr. Schnabl oversees the crafting of the Andrew Schroetter stringed instrument line, owned and distributed by Boosey & Hawkes (Musical Instruments) Ltd.
Reinhold Schnabl was born in Tirna, Czechoslovakia (formerly Sudetenland). He immigrated with his family to Bubenreuth in 1976.
At the age of 19, Mr. Schnabl entered the Bubenreuth School of Violin-making, where he apprenticed from 1951 to 1954 with violinmaster Willibald Raab. He became a journeyman in Nuremberg in 1954. His journeymans years of service were spent with the famous violinmaster Wenzel Fuchs in Eltersdorf.
Before joining Paesold in 1973, Reinhold Schnabl was employed as a luthier at Scherl and Roth, Cleveland, Ohio & Karl Hoefner, Bubenreuth, West Germany.
Mr. Schnabl is famous for the making of instruments crafted form the choicest of seasoned woods, with exquisite beauty of craftsmanship and varnish, and possessing great tonal capabilities.
