⭕ A finely engineered example of an Orrery of the Inner Solar System

Showing the planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth/Moon, and Mars as they follow their path around the Sun

Mars is shown complete with its orbiting Moons of Phobos and Deimos.

The Moon orbits the Earth whilst at the same time following an inclined plane.

Although the Moon and its mounting post are free to rotate , the same face is kept towards the Earth by a small magnet which simulates and demonstrates the tidal locking of the Moon by the gravitational influence of Earths oceans.

Made mainly of brass, with an engraved bronze calendar ring mounted upon polished steel columns and supported on a mahogany base with contrasting boxwood inlays. Raised on polished brass legs.

Rivetted to the base is a brass makers plate with the legend ORREY. D STAINES FECIT. LONDON. ENGLAND

Height of the Orrery is 10 3/4 and the feet fit inside a circle of 13 1/2
