We are extremely pleased to offer this important, 1835 date marked Russian coin silver tea tray.

An extremely rare form, in early 19th century Russian silver.

Extensively hallmarked.

The tray was crafted by one of the most important Moscow silversmiths of his time Jacob Wiberg. Listed from 1829-1852. Known for creative design and superb finish detail. He enjoyed extensive imperial connections.



The tray also hallmarked for the equally well regarded assay master Nikolay Lukich Dubrovin. Listed from 1822-1855.

This breathtaking Wiberg tea tray hand wrought in classic rectangular design. Gently curved corners.

Lavishly detailed pairs of angles, classical urns and fruited vine decoration to borders. The work the essence of the Neo-classical taste.

Ripened melons, pineapples, clusters of grapes, berries and other fruit. Amidst streaming leaf in various forms.

Subtle differences in the fruit and leaf designs, illustrate the hand wrough origin of the tray.

Each corner with meticulously carved pairs of kneeling angles. Flanking large, fluted classical urns, overflowing with blooming flowers. The angles each grasping a length of chain across the urns mid-section.

Set against finest satin like background. Accentuates the primary design perfectly.

Gently curved side wall to recessed centre. Never monogrammed.

Boldly fashioned thin panel reeded barrel form handles. Thick, oval join beneath handle centre. Long tapering shaped vine and oval terminals.

This important, Jacob Wiberg 1835 Russian silver tea tray is 23 inches handle to handle and 14 3/4 across, weighs 68 ounces.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The lavishly detailed pairs of angels flanking classical flower filled urns and fruit and leaf border decoration retain most all of their original crisp, vibrant hand chased detail. Faint lines and mild scuffing from careful use. None of these near being felt.

Extremely crisp, well struck hallmarks throughout the tray. Including maker Wiberg, HA/1835 for Assay Master Niolay Dubrovin, St. George battling the dragon and 84. Some of these hallmarks punched twice.

For the discerning collector of the finest 19th century Russian silver. Focused upon extremely rare, signed forms. This brilliantly hand wrought, museum worthy 1835 Russian silver Neo-classical inspired tea tray. From one of the most important Moscow silversmiths of the second quarter 19th century, Jacob Wiberg.
