RARE 19TH CENTURY EASTER ISLAND UA EX SOTHEBY'S 1982

⭕ This amazing piece is carved of sacred toromiro wood complete with inlaid eyes etc. It is a very rare short Ua or chiefs staff or scepter (it HAS NOT BEEN CUT DOWN AS THE PIECE FLARES OUT AT THE SIDES TOWARDS THE BOTTOM). Quite possibly unique due its size and form, we are dating it to sometime in the first half of the 19th century and has a pure untouched patina. Sold by Sothebys New York on January 20, 1982 lot #51 where it sold at that time over 25 years ago for a whopping $2,200.00. Since that time it has been with a private collector in Honolulu who was active in the 1970s and 1980s when Charlie Macks Ancestral Arts Gallery was open here in the islands. On a metal museum mount for display that still retains the original Sothebys tags, it is a rare fully authentic Easter Island artifact and NOT ONE OF THESE BOGUS CHILEAN FAKES that are being sold on internet and other sources. We also will fully guarantee the piece in writing on our letter head. Measuring 25 in height, it is a magnificent museum quality object so dont let this truly unique opportunity pass you by.
