⭕ This HEAVY New York Central System 6 chime steam whistle is RARE.

All but 8 NYC steam locomotives were scrapped. Similar whistles may have been used on NYCs subsidiary lines, including the P&LE, B&A, IHB, P&LE, LE&W, and DSI.

New York Central 6 chime whistles are rated among the top 10 best whistles of all time.


The brass bowl is 6 1/4 inches in diameter. Overall length is 19 5/8 inches from the valve to the top. The cast iron bell is 12 inches long. It has a wall thickness of about 3/8 of an inch.

The inlet thread appears to be boiler thread.

The bell was painted some time ago with gold paint. The whistle is in excellent condition, with minor wrench marks on the flats. The lever and vertical valve work fine!
